Cancer & inflammatory conditions

An association between the development of cancer and inflammation has long been appreciated.
It is well known that cancer risk increase with age.

Changing lifestyles, increasing urbanisation, diet, obesity, tobacco use, alcohol drinking and chronic infection contribute to an ever-increasing cancer burden and changing cancer pattern in Asian countries.

Cancer may come back some time after its initial treatment, as some cancer cels were left behind during the operation or some cancer cells had already broken away from the primary cancer but were too small to see (micrometastases).

Extra treatment might be necessary with the aim to try to control or kill any cancer cells left.
